Ascot Race Eyed Next for Addeybb After Queen Elizabeth Stakes Win

SYDNEY, New South Wales – United Kingdom-bred racehorse Addeybb was victorious at the Queen Elizabeth Stakes competition last weekend.

Under jockey Tom Marquand, the 59-kilogram gelding finished first place. Addeybb’s trainer William Haggas shared his next plans for the British racehorse.

He remarked that their chief target for Addeybb is the Group 1 Champion Stakes. This more than 2,000-metre horse race is open to racehorses that are three years old or older.

Moreover, the Group 1 Champion Stakes takes place every October at the Ascot Racecourse in the United Kingdom.

In last year’s Ascot racing event, Addeybb was a runner-up to high-performing Irish mare Magical.

Meanwhile, during the Queen Elizabeth Stakes race last April 11, the six-year-old offspring of Pivotal and Bush Cat defeated Verry Elleegant, the Australian racing heroine that Chris Waller trained.

Nash Rawiller rode the 57-kilogram second placer that had a starting price worth $5. The racehorse that Haggas trained also beat Danon Premium.

This 59-kilogram Japanese racing star who James McDonald rode and Mitsumasa Nakauchida trained landed on the third spot.

Danon Premium had a starting price worth $4.40, according to the report from Australian horse racing tips and news portal Justhorseracing.com.au.

Addeybb, whose starting price was $4.20 at the weekend sporting tilt, also bested the New Zealander sporting horses at the Royal Randwick Racecourse last Saturday.

One of them is 59-kilogram Te Akau Shark who Jamie Richards trained, and Opie Bosson rode. With a starting price that amounted to $5.50, Te Akau Shark placed fifth.

The Richards-moulded Melody Belle that jockey Kerrin McEvoy rode, placed sixth. This 57-kilogram Kiwi sporting horse had a starting price worth $9.

Haggas expressed his happiness with the latest memorable victory of his charge in Sydney.

This stunning win of the chestnut-coloured sporting horse in the 2,000-metre competition enabled his team to rake in $2 million in cash prize.

Haggas remarked that he is interested in his sporting horse to defend his crown in the next Queen Elizabeth Stakes race, as per the news by Australian horse racing portal Racenet.

However, at this point, the racehorse trainer cited that his priority is to bring Addeybb back to the United Kingdom.

In this way, the gelding, whose home track is the Newmarket Racecourse in England, could prepare for the Ascot race scheduled later this year, he said.

Also, Haggas mentioned his concern regarding the racetracks’ firmness during springtime in Australia.

On Sunday morning, the British handler stated in an interview on Sky Sports Radio that his group had certainly minded the champion galloper for a long time.

He described the British sporting horse as appreciative of and fine with the cut on the ground.

Haggas pointed out that he understands that Addeybb is not fond of the firm ground because it is challenging for him to run on it.

He added that the racehorse is now paying them back.

Haggas said that he would, hence, like to take care of his charge because the racehorse would last another two seasons if he would obtain the right pampering.

Moreover, the racehorse trainer expressed his doubts on racing in the United Kingdom where competitions are on shutdown due to the coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic.

He affirmed that there could be some postponement of the better Group 1 matches to the autumn.

It is because they are unaware of how racing is going to take place precisely at this time due to the global health crisis, Haggas remarked.
