Piccatric Trainers Maher and Eustace under Probe for Positive Swab

TAREN POINT, New South Wales – David Eustace and Ciaron Maher are presently under investigation due to a positive swab test on Piccatric. On February 28, their charge won a maiden competition at Sale. The blood sample taken from Piccatric after the conclusion of that sporting event returned positive results to Frusemide. Based on the news by Australian horse betting tips and news portal JustHorseRacing.com.au, this diuretic is available in the market as Lasix.

The Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory has confirmed that the three-year-old filly, whose home track is Ballarat, had Frusemide present in her system as per the reserve sample. In stables, there is a comprehensive application of the prohibited substance. However, during race days, horse racing officials ban Frusemide and do not allow it to be present in the system of a racehorse.

Stewards from Racing Victoria have opened an inquest into the positive swab from the blood sample of Piccatric, according to the news by Australian horse racing news and information website Racenet. On March 31, they had informed Eustace and Maher about the anomaly. That time was ahead of the confirmation of evaluation of the blood sample of Lectrice and Fastnet Rock’s bay-coloured daughter yesterday, April 20. At the moment, the stewards are carrying on with their inquiry on the controversial blood sample.

Meanwhile, last Saturday, April 18, the trainers of Piccatric paid the penalty amounting to $2,000. Investigators proved that Eustace and Maher had utilized shockwave treatment on three-year-old filly Stardayz, which was an illegal practice. The trainers reportedly applied the therapy on the bay-coloured daughter of On a Given Day and Zoustar within the one-week cut-off period before she participated in a Flemington competition last March.

Maher and Eustace run the Ciaron Maher Racing Stables. This racehorse training establishment is in Victoria, Australia. Moreover, the trainers of Piccatric have branches across the country. Ballarat is their flagship stable, while their department in Sydney is at Warwick Farm. Racehorses also get their training at Wangaratta and Pakenham Farm, as per the racehorse training company’s official website. Plus, they get to relish beach training at Balnarring, as well as dressage, jumpouts, and barrier practice at Caulfield.
